Aggregates Business Europe

After conducting extensive research during 2006, Route One Publishing announced the launch of Aggregates Business Europe and www.aggbusiness.com at Bauma 2007 in Munich.

10,000 copies of a dedicated Preview Issue was produced, which contained 100% live editorial copy, and the first issue proper first appeared at the Hillhead international quarrying exhibition in June 2007. Copies of both publications are still available to industry professionals within Europe who register and qualify for a subscription Register/subscribe.

Aggregates Business Europe has been launched in response to various defining industry trends, including:-

  • The globalization of the ownership of aggregate production facilities and quarries.
  • The requirement for quarry operators to comply with increasingly demanding European legislation on Environment, Health & Safety, and Emissions.
  • Rising energy costs across the region, and a need to reduce consumption.
  • The demand from the Road Construction and Building industries for higher quality and higher-performing aggregates.
  • The increasing use of technology to enable these demands to be met.
  • Aggregates Business Europe has been launched as a bi-monthly magazine with a pan-European circulation of 10,000 copies, supported by a website and a regular e-newsletter.

Aggregates Business Europe Editor

ABE's editor Claire Symes has a degree in Engineering Geology and Geotechnics and worked as an engineer on a number of construction and quarrying projects before moving into journalism in 2000. Since then she has gained a great deal of experience in editing construction magazines. Claire was previously new editor on Transportation Professional and editor of Modern Asphalts and more recently held the role of deputy editor of Construction Europe and International Construction. Claire joined Route One Publishing in 2007 to launch ABE and give her an opportunity to combine her professional qualifications in geology with her editorial experience.

Circulation

The core circulation of Aggregates Business Europe has been drawn from the Route One Publishing database of over 100,000 industry records....the same database that is used to provide the data for the circulations of World Highways and Road Technology LIVE

The circulation of Aggregates Business Europe is in a developmental phase, where industry professionals are identified and provided with sample copies/short term subscriptions to give them an opportunity to evaluate the editorial and decide whether to apply for a continuous qualified free subscription (application form available on request). Once they have done so, a decision will be taken whether to fulfill their request, or to offer them a paid subscription, according to our terms of control.

During the initial launch period, we have committed to a minimum circulation of 10,000 copies per issue, to qualified industry professionals. These will be identified as follows:-

  • Individuals from the Route One Publishing database that have indicated their involvement in quarrying and aggregate production, or in the supply of concrete and/or asphalt
  • Individuals identified to us by leading industry suppliers and operators who are believed to be likely to benefit from a free subscription
  • Individual members of the national industry associations that make up the membership of UEPG...The European Aggregates Association
  • European visitors to major industry trade shows that have indicated their involvement in quarrying, aggregate production, or concrete and asphalt supply
  • Individuals who have registered online for a free subscription to Aggregates Business Europe

Therefore, during the launch phase, copies of Aggregates Business Europe will reach a total circulation beyond the 10,000 minimum that has been committed to. This in turn means that regular advertisers will reach a qualified audience of initial recipients greater than 10,000. More than half of the initial recipients have indicated their primary activity as quarrying, asphalt,ready-mixed concrete and concrete products.

The targeted organizations are those in the fields of: Quarrying and aggregate production, plus the manufacturing and supply of aggregates and generic materials, including cement, sand, gravel, asphalt, and concrete.

Definition of Recipient to receive the publication within the above organizations are:- Owners, directors, and managers of quarries and companies involved in the extraction, manufacture, and supply of aggregates and generic materials, e.g. cement, sand, gravel, asphalt, and concrete. Senior government personnel involved in the approval of new quarries and senior personnel within contracted services involved in their exploitation, including the supply of equipment. Senior officers of professional associations linked to these businesses, and senior academics specializing in this area.
