Buzzi Unicem inaugurates its new Loesche mill at Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg

Buzzi Unicem has officially inaugurated the upgrade at its cement works in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg with a ceremony attended by Minister of the Economy of Luxembourg, Jeannot Krecké, and Franco Buzzi and Wolfgang Bauer representing Buzzi Unicem.

Central to the €50million upgrade is a new LM 46.2+2 vertical roller mill from Loesche that will increase production from 900,000tonnes per year to 1.5million tonnes. The new mill is also estimated to reduce energy consumption by 25%.

The project also involved improvements to the plant’s storage capacity for cement, improved quality control and the mixing department downstream of the mill, and strengthened rail transport.
