If the efforts of quarry operators across Europe in recent years have been successful, then introduction of new harmonised asphalt standards next year should go unnoticed. Claire Symes reports

E marking for construction products is designed to harmonise standards across EU Member States and open the way for greater cross border trade. Aggregates and bitumen binders have already undergone the CE marking process in recent years and on 1 January 2008, asphalt will join the CE marked club.
