New Norwegian asphalt type for heavy transport

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen) is in process of developing a new type of asphalt with more fine stone that better endures heavy transport.
It is said that the size of the stone used can be reduced to 8mm, compared 16mm which is the maximum size in many asphalts used today. This can also help reduce the particle levels that are released into the atmosphere.
The administration has presented a new report that helps road developers choose the right asphalt mix for different stretches, as different types of traffic require different types of asphalt.
