McCloskey International has welcomed Ethiopian Dealer Ries Engineering S. Co. (RESCO) to its global network of distributors. Wasting no time, the dealer is already said to have finalised deals with customers and is looking forward to increasing the presence of McCloskey’s crushing and screening equipment across its territory.

“Having Ries on board will further strengthen our expanding distribution network in Africa. Ethiopia presents some unique and exciting possibilities that we anticipate will contribute to our growth in the marketplace,” said John O’Neill, vice-president of marketing & sales for Canada-headquartered McCloskey International. “Ries has excellent relationships with customers in the mining, aggregate, construction and infrastructure industries, and working together will benefit not only our companies but - more importantly -their customers. “

Founded as an independent company in 1965, Ries Engineering S. Co. (RESCO) is the Caterpillar dealer representative for Ethiopia. Prior to that, it was operating as an engineering department of Paul Ries & Sons (ETH) Ltd since 1961, when its founders, the Ries family, acquired the Caterpillar dealership for Ethiopia. RESCO has been established with capabilities that enabled it provide full support to its customers.

Ries has already put three units out in the field in their territory, including a J44 jaw crusher, C38 cone crusher and an S130 triple deck vibrating screen. Orders have been placed to add more to the growing fleet of McCloskey in the region.

Asked why they chose to become a McCloskey dealer, Ato Yeheyes Assefa, assistant managing director at Ries Engineering, said: “In the next five years, we anticipate growth in the mining sector, and looked to add crushers and screeners to our equipment line-up. McCloskey International not only fits with our policy of representing quality products, but will also complement our existing earthmoving and asphalt plant equipment.” In addition to Caterpillar, RESCO represents other internationally reputed manufacturer including Massey Ferguson, Perkins, Ford, Mairini, and Berthoud.

The head office of RESCO, which also includes the main workshop and parts depot, is located in the Southern outskirts of Addis Ababa along Debrezeit Road and is set-up on an area of 28,000m2. In order to facilitate the support it gives to its customers, RESCO has set up four branches in key regional centres (Bahir Dar, Dire Dawa, Hawassa and Mekele). It is also in the process of opening additional branches in other regional towns. Ries Engineering serves a number of private and government customers in the region, across industries including mining, construction, and agriculture.
