Sandvik Construction has highlighted the importance of its £1.6 million (€2.21 million) investment in a new powder coating facility at the firm’s factory in Ballygawley, Northern Ireland.
The significant move has added to the Ballygawley site’s reputation as one of the world’s top manufacturing facilities for mobile crushers and screens.
Since becoming operational on 27 July 2015, the new powder coat plant is benefiting Sandvik customers by producing equipment with improved edge protection and corrosion resistance. Equipment assembly times are also said to have been cut by using the ‘Kanban’ manufacturing philosophy.
As well as improving mobile crushing and screening equipment safety and longevity for customers, the new powder coat plant is also making a substantial contribution to improved environmental, health and safety during manufacturing. This is being achieved through an automated process, improved material utilisation, atmosphere protection and no requirement for hazardous waste disposal.
