RMGroup move hails expansion

A packaging and processing company, that is finding increasing success in the aggregates industry, has completed a major expansion.
In the rolling hills of Newtown, Mid Wales, RMGroup, founded in 1995, has moved into a new larger premises of over 3,700m² to increase production and accommodate its ever-expanding team.
“One of the challenges with our old premises was that we could only build one or two systems at a time. We can now build five lines simultaneously. Our orders have been going through the roof,” says Llewelyn Rees, director.
Employing over 30 members of staff, RMGroup has found over the last two years that customers are increasingly reluctant to use manual bagging systems to pack materials such as aggregates and sand. More recently customers are beginning to see the advantages gained from using automated systems such as Form Fill & Seal technology accompanied by robotic palletising systems.
“Some 60-70% of packaging is still done manually, and what we are trying to do is convert the market from manual to automated,” says Rees.
RMGroup is finding increasing demand for its automated Mobile Packaging Systems
There is also increasing demand for the company’s automated Mobile Packaging Systems launched in 2005, which allows customers to bag products at the source from a single self-contained, all weather proof trailer.
“On the aggregates side we have not exported yet but we currently have a project ongoing in Delhi, India, for road markings,” says Rees.
“India is a rapidly developing country and now road building is on the increase we have customers who have purchased numerous systems from us for their plant in India.”
On completion of this project the company is looking at a plant in Mumbai, India, and possibly in Russia.
RMGroup systems utilise Swedish robotic technology from ABB, among the world leaders in industrial robotics. This year saw the affirmation of their partnership, with which RMGroup became an ABB Approved Value Provider.
As part of its support packages RMGroup offers remote connectivity to all systems, which includes CCTV surveillance of equipment so that where possible any problems can be ironed out online.
