First publishedon www.AggBusiness.com
Swiss cement manufacturer Holcim intends to achieve an extra €1.25billion profit by 2014. The company said its target will be achieved with measures that are aimed at improving energy and cost efficiency. The positive effects will amount to €124.8million in 2012.

Holcim believes that improving energy efficiency and using alternative fuel sources will drop energy costs by €249.6million. Logistics costs are expected to fall by €208million, while €166.4million will be cut in administration and service. Holcim also intends to become more customer-focused, a move set to save €416million.

When production capacities are increased in the future the investments per tonne of cement should be lowered by 20%, the company said.
