Demand for aggregates in Spain was down 14.6% in 2010 on the previous year at 207million tonnes, according to Spanish aggregates association, ANEFA. Demand fell back to levels last seen in 1992 from a high in 2006 of 485million tonnes due to the economic crisis.
ANEFA reported that the 57.2% drop since 2006 has resulted in 6000 job losses in the industry.
