Start of extraction from Ketley Quarry in the Midlands has repositioned owner WCL Quarries as one of the largest independent aggregate, waste and recycling operations in the region, according to the company. WCL gained permission to start work at the 55ha quarry in Kingswinford in March and extraction of engineering clay from the site is now underway.
“The acquisition of Ketley Quarry will create a greater business capacity, meaning investment in new equipment, infrastructure and ultimately the local area by creating opportunities for people and businesses to work with WCL Quarries,” said WCL Quarries managing director Simon Winner. “In the long term we are committed to rehabilitating the site, which will benefit the local community for generations to come.”
