McDowell joins the quarrying and construction equipment manufacturer after a decade spent within the plant hire sector holding similar managerial roles at other high-profile companies.

He is highly experienced in customer service, heavy plant machinery, the operational and planning logistics of field service engineers and has worked in Scotland throughout his career, which HCMUK says compliments his new position.

McDowell said he is "absolutely delighted" to be joining Hitachi. "I regard them as a market leader in construction machinery who are renowned for providing top-quality, reliable machines," he added.

“I do believe that this is the perfect time to be joining Hitachi due to the potential for growth within the Scotland area.”

Stephen Creaser, product support director at HCMUK, said: “Bringing a wealth of customer support experience in Scotland with him and a background in plant maintenance, I’m confident that Iain will quickly establish himself and be a success in his new role.”
