Indonesian President Joko Widodo has committed to developing $414.6 billion worth of new public works projects, resulting in growing demand for equipment and materials to support infrastructure projects.

Contractor PT Gajah Mada Sarana is currently using an 5453 SDLG LG936L wheeled loader to load aggregates used on road projects at its stockpile quarry in Muara Enim, South Sumatra.

“The biggest challenge for us at the stockpile quarry is having to work in hot temperatures amidst the changing weather conditions,” said Rahardi Pratamo, operational director, PT Gajah Mada Sarana. “Having the SDLG LG936L at our quarry has been very beneficial for us. Its air-conditioning and heating systems have greatly helped our operators to have a smooth and comfortable ride regardless of the weather.”

Onsite since February 2018, the SDLG LG936L wheeled loader works an average of eight hours daily, loading about 500m³ of aggregates destined for road construction onto dump trucks. Powered by a 92kW Weichai 617 Deutz engine, the 3-tonne-rated LG936L is highly-manoeuvrable. The unit’s 1.8m³ bucket can be raised to a dumping height of 3.3m, and the maximum breakout force is 96kN. To date, the LG936L has worked 1,532 machine hours.

Established in 1983, PT Gajah Mada Sarana was involved in various construction projects across Indonesia. Most recently, the local government engaged PT Gajah Mada Sarana to handle the ongoing construction of state and regional roads in Palembang.

The simple design of SDLG wheel loaders and their cost-effectiveness have made them popular for load-and-carry operations of various kinds around the world. Pratamo says the strength, reliability and cost savings of the SDLG LG936L are just some of his favourite features on the wheel loader.

“What we also like about the SDLG LG936L is that there have been no problems at all and its low fuel consumptions have greatly helped our business to reduce costs. Most importantly, the aftermarket service and support we receive is great,” Pratamo said.
