McCloskey International is benefiting from strong performance following high demand for its equipment in 2021

The firm saw turnover reach a record €1.374 billion in 2021, a rise of 24% from €1.017 billion in 2020. Sales meanwhile reached €1.202 billion, a rise of 21% from the €992 million in 2020.

Speaking to trade media at World of Asphalt 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, Toni Laaksonen, McCloskey senior vice president, said: “It was a record-breaking year in our history. The second half was a bit more challenging. We could have sold more if we’d had more components.”

Product development has been important to expand the range, and the firm has introduced a cone range that is now well established, including the C2, C3 and C4 models. Laaksonen said, “The portfolio is now well established.”

Meanwhile, the new 14C is a powerful impact crusher that was introduced in 2021. Laaksonen said: “We have been capturing a lot of business with that.” The machine is highly mobile and versatile.

For 2022, new machines include the S250 and T518 from McCloskey Environmental. This business is focused on the environmental market, and its products include trommels, stackers and shredders. Laaksonen commented: “That market segment is booming.”

Another new system is the firm’s 365 Site Connex system, which is said to provide a complete connectivity solution that allows accurate fleet monitoring. Users can assess factors such as plant performance, fuel consumption, machine status/location, and engine hours while also benchmarking between different plants. The system helps to optimise service support, with users able to schedule maintenance and service intervals to minimise downtime.

John O’Neill is vice president in charge of sales and marketing at McCloskey. He commented that the company had changed significantly since Metso Outotec acquired it. “The transition from a private company to a public one isn’t easy.” However, he added that this has been successful, and the firm has been able to sign up new distributors and dealers in the wake and develop its global sales team.

The company has introduced new brands, MWS Equipment and McCloskey Environmental and has also refreshed the historic Lippman name following the acquisition of the business some years ago. In addition, new product launches have included the 14C impact crusher, the 365 Site Connex system, and the J6 jaw crusher.

The J6 has been a prime introduction for the firm, and O’Neill commented: “It’s a very tough, very heavy duty machine.”

Aimed at the 600tonne/hour class, the J6 tops the McCloskey range of jaw crushers, including the smaller J35, J40V2, J45 and J50Vs models. He added: “Going forward, anything bigger than that will be part of the Lippman brand.

In addition, the MWS range is also being expanded with the addition of a new scalper range, the SCLPR models. These are modular, so can be built up to suit a specific application, with outputs ranging from 60-200tonnes/hour depending on the configuration.
