1707 Aggregate Industries, a leading UK building materials supplier, has relocated its asphalt plant in Daviot in the Scottish Highlands to a prime new Inverness city centre location, as part of ongoing plans to improve customer services.

The new state-of-the-art facility is located within Longman Industrial Estate - just five minutes’ drive from central Inverness. This location will make it easier and quicker for busy customers to access the plant by offering 24 hour service by request. Additionally, the new site location ensures customers are less likely to be affected by adverse weather conditions, as previously experienced in Daviot.

Reflecting Aggregate Industries’ on-going drive for innovation, the new plant will include the capability of providing warm mix asphalt technology – a cutting edge solution that allows surfacing contractors to extend the range of products they can offer. Added benefits of this mix include improvements in health and safety through a reduction in steam, speed of overlay, enhanced workability and its ability to travel further, if necessary.

What’s more, the site supplies a full range of asphaltic materials, stone mastic asphalt and warm mix materials, as well as providing a range of merchant products through its recently-launched Express Shops offering.

Currently being rolled out across 24 Aggregate Industries’ Express Asphalt sites nationwide, Express Shops offer a range of contractor tools and equipment including bituminous products, joint sealants, overbanding, cleaning and release agents, as well as pre-coated chippings and gas.

Ian Waddell, regional director at Aggregate Industries, said: "We are very excited about our move into Inverness City Centre and see a very bright and long future here. Having opened on the 19 April we are already seeing the benefits of being at this new site. Only 5 minutes away from Inverness City Centre and not far off Harbour Road - the main route used by our customers - we are in the perfect location to service the local asphalt requirements.

“In addition our new site has been fully refurbished and automated enabling a more robust and efficient operation to better serve our customers. On top of this the plant has been transformed with the latest state-of-the-art technology in warm mix asphalt. This has a huge environmental benefit due to the reduction in energy required for product manufacturing. These are exciting times for Aggregate Industries and we look forward to welcoming back our existing customers as well as seeing new faces.”

Aggregate Industries’ Asphalt service includes a dedicated customer service team and a guaranteed order turnaround of under 30 minutes for single loads of standard products.
