The plants in Dundee, Greenock, Cardenden and Perth were identified as part of CEMEX’s portfolio rebalancing strategy to focus on high growth metropolitan markets.

Employees working at these sites will be transferred to the new owners under TUPE regulations. CEMEX and Tillicoultry Quarries management teams have been working closely to ensure a successful transition.

Employees transferring to Tillicoultry Quarries have been thanked by CEMEX for their commitment to the company.

CEMEX says it remains committed to the UK market and still retains a substantial integrated business providing a wide range of sustainable building materials solutions for our customers.

Tillicoultry Quarries' new acquisitions are a natural follow-on from the 14 new sites acquired from Breedon in November 2020. The acquisition of the four new sites from CEMEX includes eight new employees and increases Tillicoultry Quarries' geographic reach for ready-mixed concrete products.

Wallace Menzies, director of Tillicoultry Quarries, said: "The purchase of these four new sites is testament to Tillicoultry Quarries' continuous commitment to build on and invest in our existing capabilities and gives us the opportunity to extend our market coverage for ready mixed concrete products.

"In the last ten years, Tillicoultry Quarries has seen a number of key strategic acquisitions. We have the optimal infrastructure and an experienced team in place to ensure a seamless takeover, and we look forward to investing further in these locations."
