The newly certified plants in Colombia, Guatemala and Panama join the nearly 400 plants worldwide that have been been awarded CSC certificates for sustainability.

The first certifications in Latin America were achieved by Cemex, Holcim, Hormigon Express and Mixto Listo amid the current COVID-19 pandemic. The achievement includes the first Gold level concrete plant certificate in Latin America and the first supplier certificate for a cement plant in all the Americas.

The FIHP is the regional CSC system operator in Latin America and staged the virtual event on December 11.

Supported by the Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme of the One Planet network, the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC) is performing a project that aims at empowering small and medium-sized concrete producers in Latin America to make concrete more sustainable by means of education and by promoting and implementing CSC-certification.
