GCCA India highlights benefits of blended cement

The India branch of the GCCA (Global Cement and Concrete Association) is holding an online event to present a new report on the benefits of blended cement.

The event takes place on Wednesday, 13 April 2022 from 3pm to 4.30pm (IST), and registration is here.

The report - developed in collaboration with NCCBM (National Council for Cement & Building Materials) and inputs from the GCCA India member companies - discusses the advantages of blended cement over OPC in terms of the environment, emissions, and longevity; and the misapprehensions about the use of blended cement, which affect its acceptance.
 
The report will be released by Shri. Anil Agrawal, additional secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
 
He will be joined by oined by: Parth Jindal, chair - GCCA India and MD-JSW Cement; Mahendra Singhi, MD & CEO, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) - project sponsor; Thomas Guillot, CEO, GCCA; and Dr Arvind Bodhankar, executive director - ESG & chief risk officer Dalmia (Bharat) Cement.
 
It will be followed by a panel discussion consisting of renowned stalwarts from the cement and concrete industry, research institutes and academic institutes, who will connect on the highlights from the report.
 
The discussion panel includes:
• Moderator - Manoj Rustagi,  EVP business strategy & capex projects, sustainability and R&D - JSW Cement
• Sanjay Kumar, chief materials manager, Indian Railways
• Dr Bibekananda Mohapatra, director general, National Council for Cement & Building Materials (NCCBM)
• Dr Manu Santhanam, professor, IIT Madras
• Sanjay Seth, senior director, sustainable habitat, The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI)
• Dr N Gopalkrishnan, director, Central Building Research Institute (CBRI)
 
GCCA - India works with the Indian cement & concrete sector on climate change, the circular economy, health & safety, SDGs, and advocacy. It currently has 13 member companies, covering more than 65% of the Indian cement industry. MParth Jindal, MD - JSW Cement, is the chair and Deepak Khetrapal is co-chair of the GCCA India programme.
