Kieres elected chairman of Polish cement association

Krzysztof Kieres, general director of Dyckerhoff Polska, has been elected as the new chairman of the Polish Association of Cement Producers (SPC). Kieres, 64, will serve a four-year term. He replaces Ernest Jelito, president of the board at Górażdże Cement, who has been chairman since January this year. Krzysztof Kieres, general director of Dyckerhoff Polska, has been elected as the new chairman of the Polish Association of Cement Producers (SPC).

Kieres, 64, will serve a four-year term. He replaces Ernest Jelito, president of the board at Górażdże Cement, who has been chairman since January this year.

Kieres is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology at the University of Lodz, specialising in economics and organisation of foreign trade. He has worked for a number of construction companies including almost two years at German-based Bilfinger und Berger in Mannheim. He has worked at Dyckerhoff Polska, a member of the Dyckerhoff/Buzzi Unicem group for the last 20 years, initially as a financial director, and more recently as general director.

The General Meeting of Members of the SPC also elected Dariusz Gawlak (president of the board at Warta S.A. Cement Plant) as vice chairman.

Włodzimierz Chołu (CEMEX Polska), Xavier Guesnu (Lafarge Cement), Janusz Miłucha (Grupa Ożarów) and Andrzej Reclik (Górażdże Cement) were elected to the SPA board. In addition, Andrzej Ptak was accepted as an honorary member of the SPA.
