The Indian cement producer, part of the LafargeHolcim building materials group, said that previous MD and CEO Bimlendra Jha resigned his position on 20th February to pursue other interests.
Akhoury has twenty-seven years of leadership experience across multiple roles including sales and marketing, logistics, corporate affairs including corporate social responsibility, strategy and business development.
He had been the MD and CEO of cement and ready mixed concrete manufacturer ACC since February 2017.
N.S. Sekhsaria, chairman of the board at Mumbai-based Ambuja Cement, said that Akhoury is a cement industry veteran with years of experience in the business both in India and abroad. He added: "We are confident that Neeraj will lead Ambuja further to higher levels."
