The company said in a statement that it is providing a steady supply of oxygen cylinders to hospitals across India from its production units in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Bihar, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

Hospitals in the Indian capital New Delhi and other cities have been turning away patients due to shortages of oxygen and beds. On April 26 the country recorded a new global high for daily coronavirus cases of nearly 353,000.

Shree says it has so far provided more than 15,000 oxygen cylinders for medical purposes.

"We have been consistently liaising with state administration and hospitals to ensure supply of oxygen from our units," said Sanjay Mehta, president (commercial) at Shree Cement. "Our oxygen plants are running at 100% capacity and we will continue to serve till we win over Covid as a Nation."
