ABMEC, the trade association for the British mining supply chain, has appointed Dr Kate Thornton (CEng CSci FIMMM FWES) as its new CEO.
Dr Thornton has a diverse career background encompassing the chemical and membership sectors and is keen to build on ABMEC’s strong foundations going forward. In her new role, she will champion the British mining supply chain’s knowledge and expertise in sustainable mining best practices and safety globally.
ABMEC President Russell Lafford said: “I am delighted that Dr Kate Thornton has joined ABMEC as our new CEO. Kate brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership in our industry. ABMEC (Association for British Mining Engineering & Consultancy) is the only association representing the entire British mining supply chain. Established almost 100 years ago, it continues to provide member services to help promote sales and business growth in the UK and globally.
