Building materials and aggregates supplier Aggregate Industries has appointed Gary Brennand as the new general manager for express asphalt.
He succeeds Vicky Smith, who was recently named as the new managing director for Spadeoak – Aggregate Industries’ specialist contracting business.
Having assumed the role on November 2, Brennand is responsible for growing the UK-based construction supplier’s burgeoning express asphalt division, as well as spearheading high standards of product development and innovation.
His career began as a quarry-based aggregates & asphalt technician and he has worked his way through the business, gaining expertise and understanding of the industry. Joining Aggregate Industries in 2018 as an area manager for Midlands ready-mix, Brennand has over 20 years of experience in the construction materials sector, having held a number of senior positions across aggregate, asphalt, cement and ready-mix concrete businesses.
In his current role as general manager for asphalt Midlands, a position he has held since 2018, he has consecutively improved business performance year on year. More recently, Aggregates Industries says that he provided excellent leadership and stability during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
He will report directly into Chris Hudson, MD of asphalt, who will lead the asphalt Midlands management team, pending the appointment of a permanent replacement for Brennand.
