After postponement in 2020 due to the health situation, the Asphaltica expo will now take place on 20-22 October 2021 in Verona, Italy.

The road paving, safety and infrastructure technologies and solutions event is organised by Veronafiere, in partnership with Italian roads and bitumen association SITEB.

Asphaltica will be held in Hall 4 at the Veronafiere Exhibition Centre, with a large outdoor area for displays of large machinery and bituminous conglomerate production plant.

Veronafiere says it has ensured the safety of the event due to the safety business protocol it has developed which has been validated by the Italian Scientific Technical Committee, health authorities and AEFI, the Italian association of trade fair organisers.

Giovanni Mantovani, CEO of Veronafiere, commented: “Together with SITEB and the main stakeholders in the supply chain, we have identified the end of October as a suitable time slot for holding Asphaltica in complete safety, as well as responding to the business needs of companies and operators and supporting the restart of the market.”

Veronafiere says that all health prevention measures have been upgraded within the Exhibition Centre with thermo-scanners at the entrances gates, management of entry and exit flows in and out of facilities, online ticketing, continuous sanitisation of the venue and air conditioning systems, reorganisation of catering services and anti-crowd control using intelligent cameras.

SITEB president Michele Turrini said: “The new edition of Asphaltica, after the postponement last year will take on a crucial role in relaunching a sector which in these difficult times has proven its resilience; today, our sector is called upon, with suitable support and strategic vision from the new government, to play a fundamental role in the safety and sustainability of the infrastructures of our country. We are working to prepare an edition that, while ensuring all safety protocols, will be a strategic occasion for meetings and comparisons for the entire road sector value chain, involving companies, public administrations and institutions.”

Asphaltica is normally held side-by-side with the SaMoTer construction equipment event. SaMoTer has twice been pushed back from its originally scheduled March 2020 date is now due to take place in March 2023.

Veronafiere says the supply chain associated with bitumen is worth over €2bn in Italy, with 400 plant and 35,000 direct employees rising to 500,000 when allied sectors are also taken into account.
