Atlas Copco has announced that from 1 July it will operate under four new business units that have been designed to strengthen customer segment and product focus.

Under the new structure, quarrying equipment will be part of the Mining and Rock Excavation Technique, which will cover underground and surface drilling products, crushing, loading and hauling, and exploration equipment. Hydraulic breakers will become part of the Construction Technique business area and be combined with portable compressors and generators and road construction equipment.

Compressor Technique will focus on stationary equipment for air and gas and related services, while Industrial Technique remains unchanged.

“With more focused business areas, each will have a strong platform from which they can develop the offering for their customers,” said Atlas Copco Group CEO and president Ronnie Leten. “The modifi ed structure also allows us to better capture the sales and service synergies between our construction businesses and capitalise on the future growth of construction projects around the world, especially in emerging markets.” The company has announced that Bob Fassl will take on the role as president for Mining and Rock Excavation Technique.

US-based Fassl is currently head of Atlas Copco’s Drilling Solutions division and has almost 30 years of experience with the company.

Atlas Copco will immediately begin recruitment of a president for the Construction Technique business area.

Björn Rosengren, head of the Construction and Mining Technique business area, is leaving the Group for a position as President and CEO of Wärtsilä Corporation.
