Machine attachments have been voted the top attractions to see at next year’s Plantworx construction equipment exhibition in Peterborough, UK.

Plantworx 2019 will be staged by the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) at the show’s new home of the East of England Arena on 11-13 June next year.

A poll of prospective attendees conducted on the Plantworx Twitter page put machine attachments top of the list. New technology came second with 28% of voters wanting to see virtual reality training, 25% opting for machine guidance systems, while 18% want to see alternative fuel machines.

The CEA says that many leading attachment manufacturers will be demonstrating excavator attachments including augers, buckets, quick hitches, rakes, blades and grabs. A strong focus will be on promoting the correct selection and use of attachments and instrumentation to carry out different tasks more efficiently.

Confirmed exhibitors at the biennial event include Arrowhead Rockdrill, Auger Torque, BSP Digbits, Engcon, Hill Engineering, Rototilt and Steelwrist.

The organisers are planning a ‘Virtual Reality Zone’ within the show’s new Innovation and Technology Zone at the show where visitors can experience virtual reality training on a variety of different machines.

Machine Guidance is another area intend to expand with exhibiting companies from the sector including GKD Technologies, RDS Technology, Trimble and Moba Mobile Automation.

Companies exhibiting with Hybrid machines include Caterpillar and Komatsu. Takeuchi also recently launched its new Hybrid electric/diesel TB216, 1.9tonne mini excavator.

Plantworx 2019 will feature a rail element with new partners Rail Media. Rail companies booked for the event include Fenix Signalling who will also be demonstrating, Premier Rail and Rosehill Rail. Lighting tower manufacturer TCP (Taylor Construction Plant) has also confirmed its stand space at Railworx.

CEA honorary president and JCB director David Bell says there is a synergy between Railworx and Plantworx: “Manufacturers have to find the best value for money in spending their marketing budgets, and today with so many digital ways of reaching our customers, plant and machinery shows have to do what can’t be done digitally. So Plantworx and Railworx provides us with the perfect platform to see machines in the ‘flesh’, for which there is no substitute.”
