Beton Lana successfully tackles concrete plant dust with EmiControls support

A state-of-the-art EmiControls' solution is helping Beton Lana successfully combat concrete plant dust and become a model gravel and concrete plant operator in South Tyrol, north-east Italy.

A local leader in the production of high-quality ready-mixed concrete and the supply of locally sourced inert materials such as sand, gravel and gravel, Beton Lana set itself the goal of keeping dust emissions at its concrete plant site in the industrial area of Bressanone as low as possible to protect surrounding companies as well as the population of the nearby city.

This led to EmiControls, a Bolzano, north-east Italy-headquartered company providing innovative, high-quality products to fight fire, dust and odours with the help of water mist, installing its V22 dust controller and CURT management software.

The V22 guarantees very fine atomisation of water, making it able to fight large quantities of dust. The long-distance projected atomisation is able to capture an enormous quantity of dust particles, avoiding the undesired formation of water accumulations on the ground. Thanks to its up to 90-metre range, the V22 is suitable to be used in different scenarios such as large industrial plants, large demolition sites, open-cast quarries, large recycling plants and material deposits, landfills, and woodworking plants.

The CURT (Control Unit for Remote-controlled Turbines) management software allows the monitoring and management of all dust and odour abatement machines in a plant. The main advantage: CURT reacts to several different inputs. This means that various parameters for the automatic activation and deactivation of the plant can be defined – such as timed control and weather conditions.

CURT provides economic and efficient management of dust and odour control systems, also in terms of resources. Inputs and sensors can be expanded as desired, based on specific customer requirements. Once installed, CURT makes it possible for the user to save time and money: the system starts operating only when necessary.

The CURT system installed at Beton Lana’s Bressanone facility sees the V22 turbine start-up automatically every morning for ten minutes and at regular intervals during the day. In addition, a weather system ensures that the turbine does not turn on when it rains or when weather conditions do not recommend it.

“Our values of innovation and sustainability have guided us in undertaking this dust abatement project with EmiControls. When it comes to gravel and concrete, everyone thinks about dirt and dust – we want to help dispel this stereotype in our industry; our ambition is to become the cleanest gravel and concrete plant in the area,” says Christian Grünfelder, the operator of Beton Lana.

Grünfelder adds: “We chose a dust abatement machine over a conventional spraying system because it is an innovative solution for selective dust control. As the dust controllers are equipped with filters, it allows us to use them with the court water we collect. This makes them even more an environmentally friendly unit.”
