The company has said that its systems are helping to ensure products reach customers in optimum condition as stretch packaging wraps horizontally and vertically for better load stability and better protection.

Beumer has said that the stretch hooding technique was developed 20 years ago when a US-based crude oil refiner and chemical resins supplier discovered the ingredients for a stretchable film and was designed to overcome some of the problems associated with shrink wrapping.
According to the company, shrink wrapping was developed in the 1960s but requires heat to work adding the risk of fire and raising energy consumption.
