India-headquartered BKT (Balkrishna Industries Limited), one of the world’s leading off-highway machine tyre manufacturers, is to build a US$100milion production site in the United States – its first manufacturing facility outside its home country.
Although Europe is BKT’s largest sales market – accounting for more than half of the company’s overall turnover – the Americas are becoming an increasingly interesting and expanding market for the company. BKT has established a new wholly-owned subsidiary company in the U.S., which has set up a greenfield project for the construction of the new tyre manufacturing plant. The plant will serve customers throughout the whole of the Americas.
BKT’s U.S. subsidiary is currently sourcing a preferred site for the manufacturing plant, with land acquisition set to be finalised by the end of Q1 2019. The project is expected to be completed by 31 March 31 2021.
