Breedon Aggregates has reported that it has secured two contracts for work on the A9 trunk road in Scotland worth over £6million for the supply and lay aggregates and asphalt. Breedon Aggregates has reported that it has secured two contracts for work on the A9 trunk road in Scotland worth over £6million for the supply and lay aggregates and asphalt.
Under one of the contracts Breedon Aggregates will lay the pavement layers on both the existing dual carriageway section and a new three-kilometre extension to the north of the existing dual carriageway at Crubenmore. In all, the company will supply and in part lay over 80,000tonnes of quarry materials and pavement layers to the contract, to be produced at its Meadowside, Shierglas, Banavie and Netherglen quarries.
The second contract is for improvements to the road at Faskally near Pitlochry. The existing road surface will be removed along a 700m length, exposing the concrete base which will be repaired and treated prior to the application of a new binder course. This will then be surfaced using a special low-spray, low-noise asphalt called Breedon Polymer, which is highly durable and resistant to rutting. This will be produced at its Clatchard Quarry near Perth.
