Three transport companies with specialist operations in the construction industry – Barron Wood Distribution (bwd), Construct IT, and Evans Transport – have joined forces to win a UK-wide contract with Brett Landscaping and Building Products.

Brett Landscaping and Building Products is part of Brett Group, a major independent building materials group in the UK, providing aggregates, concrete and paving products to commercial and domestic markets.

The three transport businesses will be working together to share volume and support Brett Landscaping and Building Products’ own fleet of vehicles. By optimising resources and expertise, they will significantly reduce empty running, lower carbon emissions and maintain the high levels of on time in full (OTIF) deliveries that Brett Landscaping and Building Products’ customers expect.

bwd will be responsible for the transport planning and customer service from its headquarters in Preston. GPS technology and visibility tools, such as the bwd Driver App, will also form part of the service.

Andrew Vickers, group construction operations director at bwd, says: “Brett Landscaping and Building Products will benefit from a well-managed partnership underpinned by our UK-wide transport network, broad range of specialist vehicles and combined strength in smarter technology. We will provide flexibility and scalability to easily accommodate fluctuations in demand.”

Under the new contract, the consortium will manage the distribution of Brett Landscaping and Building Products’ full product portfolio from four sites, delivering materials to builders’ merchants and construction sites across the South of England. Collectively, distribution of circa 12,500 loads will be managed each year, ensuring consistent, efficient and reliable delivery for Brett Landscaping and Building Products’ customers.

Amarat Gill, operations director at Construct IT, says: “By working together, we can offer Brett Landscaping and Building Products a flexible, resilient and sustainable transport solution – one that not only meets their needs today but also sets a benchmark for collaboration across the industry.”

The three transport businesses share very similar family-led values and a commitment to excellent service, safety and strong customer relationships.

Tom Evans, operations director at Evans Transport, comments: “This landmark agreement is transformative. It demonstrates how cooperation between logistics providers can deliver new levels of value for manufacturers, the supply chain and the environment.”

Neil Frost, production director at Brett Landscaping and Building Products, concludes: “When selecting a partner to support our own fleet, it was important to find someone who could deliver the standard of service our customers demand. The experience of Barron Wood Distribution, Construct IT, and Evans Transport will ensure we continue to service our customers to the highest levels.”
