Spanish cement firm Cementos Portland (CP) is developing a project to substitute 15% of the fossil fuel it uses at its factory in the Spanish city of Navarra with non-organic residues that tend to end up in landfill sites.

Spanish cement firm Cementos Portland (CP) is developing a project to substitute 15% of the fossil fuel it uses at its factory in the Spanish city of Navarra with non-organic residues that tend to end up in landfill sites.

Twenty-eight other factories in Spain already use this type of waste to generate energy. The move would enable CP to become more competitive while it would also benefit the environment. Given general public concerns on this issue, the company has created a website where it explains what the project entails. CP says it is also happy to answer any questions.
