Cemex organised a volunteer event in the olive groves within its rehabilitated quarries and plants at Sv. Juraj and Sv. Kajo in Croatia.

This year’s harvest set a record, yielding 17.5 tons of olives and producing approximately 1,850 litres of Lintar extra virgin olive oil, the highest yield to date from Cemex’s olive groves.

Since 2008, volunteers have maintained olive groves planted by Cemex on the southern slopes of Kozjak Mountain. Image/Cemex

In 2011, members of the Dalmacijacement Veterans and Volunteers Association—primarily Cemex employees—established the Lintar Agricultural Veterans Cooperative. Since 2008, the volunteers have maintained olive groves planted by Cemex on the southern slopes of Kozjak Mountain as part of the company’s quarry rehabilitation efforts.

Cemex’s quarry rehabilitation plan is integral to its Future in Action program. It focuses on restoring and enhancing natural environments after quarrying activities. These efforts aim to protect biodiversity and sustain ecosystems. Today, 100% of Cemex’s active quarries have a rehabilitation plan in place.
