Led by Cemex in Germany, a consortium is supplying ready-mix concrete for the stunning, eco-friendly Kö-Bogen complex in downtown Dusseldorf, one of the most acclaimed building projects in the region. The company is carefully coordinating multiple construction activities to help the dynamic new office and retail complex reach completion.

The city chose to replace an unused central transport hub with a new office and retail space designed by the noted architectural firm of Daniel Libeskind. This beautifully designed urban space joins two city blocks under one continuous roofline, encompassing a mixed-use building complex approximately 28m tall. The main three floors of the complex will contain retail stores; the top three floors will be used as office space, and the four underground levels will accommodate a three-floor parking lot, as well as road tunnels running below the development.

Due to the high volume of concrete needed for the project, 100,000m³, enough to fill 40 Olympic-size swimming pools,, Cemex in Germany chose two supply partners to make up a consortium to provide a wide array of concrete types, ranging from high-strength concrete for floor connections to low-shrink concrete for the ceilings.

Cemex in Germany is supplying all the cement, the aggregates, and the specialised admixtures for the project; providing building materials technology, and supervising the job, assuring precise delivery volumes, times, and access routes despite the central location of the construction site amid the lively shopping streets of the city centre.
