The first ever Cemex global aggregates conference took place in Manchester, north-west England, with a visit to the largest Cemex UK quarry, Dove Holes, in Buxton, County Derbyshire. Thirty eight delegates from 14 countries discussed key issues of health and safety, operations, commercial and trading, reviewing the global as well as the local market and the latest industry and Cemex developments.

Thirty eight delegates from 14 countries discussed key issues of health and safety, operations, commercial and trading, reviewing the global as well as the local market and the latest industry and Cemex developments.
The key objective of the two-day conference was to share best practice, providing delegates with an invaluable opportunity to network with colleagues from around the world.
Health and safety was top of the agenda with health and safety director Andy Taylor discussing the success of the UK’s Visible Felt Leadership programme as well as other topics. He emphasised the importance of VFL in achieving an interdependent, team safety culture. To date this year, 3,202 VFL visits have been made by senior management resulting in 6,900 safety conversations across the Ccemex UK business.”
