Cemex continues to reduce the carbon footprint of its EMEA supply chain operations through investments in new electric ReadyMix trucks across the region.
Electric mixers were first implemented in Cemex’s German and UAE operations in 2023. Following their initial success, mixers have since been deployed across France, Poland, the Czech Republic and Spain, with Germany further expanding its own EV fleet, acquiring seven new trucks so far this year.
Cemex’s electric mixer fleet can reduce carbon emissions by up to 100% while also offering exceptionally low noise levels. Alongside the initial sustainability benefits, this quiet operation provides significant advantages to local communities and other road users, particularly in urban environments where logistical activities may occur. Furthermore, these trucks are equipped with modern safety features and can carry similar amounts of materials to those of a conventional mixer.
Matthew Wild, EMEA VP for Supply Chain and Procurement, said, “Transport is one of the key areas where Cemex strives to reduce its CO2 emissions, which is why we are investing in and implementing electric mixers across our EMEA operations. These trucks incorporate renewable energy sources, which enables us to provide more sustainable solutions for the transportation of ready-mix materials while also being a better neighbour and fellow road user.”
The adoption of renewable energy sources forms a key part of Cemex’s Future in Action strategy, which focuses on the decarbonisation of its global operations through developing and integrating more sustainable products and technologies, to become a Net-Zero CO2 company by 2050.
