CEMEX provides concrete donation for new Mexican Consulate in Houston

CEMEX has donated more than US$30,000 worth of ready-mixed concrete to support the construction of the newly-opened and inaugurated facility for the Mexican Consulate in Houston, Texas.

Mexican government officials and dignitaries held a special inauguration ceremony for the new facility in West Houston on June 18. Mauricio Doehner, CEMEX executive vice president of Corporate Affairs, Enterprise Risk Management and Social Impact based in Monterrey, Mexico, was among those in attendance at the event where officials thanked CEMEX for its support.

The consulate had reached out to CEMEX in 2020 requesting assistance for the new facility. Through CEMEX USA’s Houston Shell & Concrete division, the company donated more than 500 cubic yards of ready-mixed concrete to help complete the project.

“As a global company founded in Mexico, CEMEX recognises and respects the important mission of Mexican Consulates around the world, and with Houston being home to our U.S. headquarters, we’re proud to support this initiative,” said Doehner. “We congratulate the consulate on this new, expanded facility that allows them to grow along with the community they serve.”

The Consulate General of Mexico in Houston relocated to the new facility at the end of May after spending more than two decades in their building in Downtown Houston. Over the years, the needs of the Mexican community have grown, and the new, four-story building has doubled the consulate’s space to offer additional support for the documentation area, as well as for the protection department and the health, financial and education services provided.
