Cemex has announced that its business will now be split into six regions – Mexico, US, South America and Caribbean, Northern Europe, Mediterranean and Asia – and has appointed new presidents for each region.
Cemex has announced that its business will now be split into six regions – Mexico, US, South America and Caribbean, Northern Europe, Mediterranean and Asia – and has appointed new presidents for each region. Each new president will also take responsibility for a strategic area for the company.
In Europe, Ignacio Medridejo will take responsibility for Northern Europe and global energy and sustainability. Jaime Muguiro has been appointed president of Cemex Mediterranean.
The Mexican region will be headed by Juan Romero, who will also oversee global technology. Karl Watson Jr takes on the presidency of the US business, while Jaime Elizondo will combine presidency of South America and the Caribbean with a role in global procurement. In Asia, Joaquin Estrada has been appointed president and will also have responsibility for global trading.
Cemex has also announced that Fernando Gonzalez will become CFO, Juan Pablo San Agustin has been appointed executive vice president for strategic planning and business development and Luis Hernandez has been appointed executive vice president for organisation and human resources.
All nine executives will report directly to Cemex chairman and CEO Lorenzo Zambrano. “We have worked hard and successfully to put behind us the challenges that resulted from the downturn in the global materials industry.” said Zambrano, “Now we need to move rapidly to create value for all our stakeholders. This new executive team has the leadership skills, the vision and the experience to do exactly that, and I am extremely optimistic about Cemexs’s future.”
