CEMEX supplies massive vehicle storage project

CEMEX has provided more than 70,000 cubic metres of specialised concrete for the construction of Park Garage in the Mexican port of Veracruz.

The construction materials giant says the facility is the second largest vehicle storage building in the world (behind one in Singapore), and has the capacity to house up to 10,000 vehicles.

The Veracruz site allows Park Garage to achieve an optimal capacity for the storage and transfer of vehicles destined for export and import. With a height of 22.7m, this large facility’s six levels have a total extension of 125,000m2, an area equivalent to the combined size of 30 soccer fields.

“We supplied specialised high-resistance concrete that offers the most advanced technology designed to avoid corrosion,” said Ricardo Naya, president of CEMEX Mexico. “Our concrete’s permeability enables this massive vehicle storage facility to counteract the severe salinity conditions that prevail due to its proximity to the sea.”

For the execution of the work, CEMEX installed a Vince Hagan type concrete batching plant, characterized by its loading capacity, which reaches a daily average of 500 cubic meters. The company also provided up to 12 mixer trucks on site to distribute the concrete throughout the complex.
