Cemex has supplied a fast-drying concrete to help enable rapid completion of the L’Arbre Blanc (The White Tree) building in Montpellier, France. Cemex has supplied a fast-drying concrete to help enable rapid completion of the L’Arbre Blanc (The White Tree) building in Montpellier, France.
The 50-meter high, tree-shaped building is the work of Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, who has designed buildings such as the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London.
Cemex supplied over 7,800 cubic metres of concrete for the project, including special mixes of hyper-fluid and high-strength concrete.
To deliver the structural work, Cemex supplied fast-drying concrete that enabled the completion of one floor every six days and the total structure in three months. The full L’Arbre Blanc project is expected to complete in 2019.
Located on the banks of the River Lez in Montpellier, France, this 17-story residential L’Arbre Blanc building features seven-metre cantilevered metal work and 194 balcony spaces that give the structure its unique tree shape.
