Cemex UK is about to complete a £1.5 million (€1.75 million)  upgrade of its Cambusmore Aggregate plant in Callandar, County Perthshire, Scotland, increasing its capacity  by 15%; minimising waste and reducing energy consumption by 10% and maintenance costs by 20%.

The new plant will improve the safety of colleagues as the 30-year -ld plant with potential structural problems, poor access and lots of working at height has been replaced with a new modern production plant with easy access  consisting of  Metso cone crusher and secondary screen; CDE sand plant and a DVE primary screen with associated conveyors.

The project involved utilising redundant plant from County Hereford to utilise existing assets and minimise costs.

“There are two major advantages to this new plant. It will help ensure the safety of our colleagues and contractors at the site and for customers the aggregates produced are of a better quality with regard to grading, moisture content and cleanliness. Cambusmore has been producing aggregate since 1965 and is now ready to continue providing the local community with construction materials it needs,”  says Rob Doody,  operations director Cemex UK.
