Cemex will provide roller-compacted concrete (RCC) for the construction of a new road in southern Poland, its first major RCC contract ever in this market. The company has also provided tailor-made building solutions for many of Poland’s most important recent and ongoing infrastructure projects, from national roadways to the Warsaw subway and a stadium for the EURO 2012.
“Using concrete for the development of new roads in Poland is a great step forward,” says Piotr Rusecki, vice-president of Cemex in Poland’s Concrete Division.
“Roads paved with concrete are not only more durable, requiring fewer repairs, but they are also less expensive if you analyse the projects full life-cycle. Cemex aims to educate its customers and to continually emphasise the benefits from the use of this construction technology.”
In addition to this new project, Cemex has been a part of other landmark constructions in Poland, providing 50,000m³ of ready-mix concrete for a state-of-the-art soccer stadium that hosted several games of the UEFA EURO2012 Poland-Ukraine championship.
As part of its offering of building solutions, the company installed a mobile ready-mix concrete-batching plant directly at the construction site, which allowed minimising ready-mix delivery timing and helped to ensure that the construction was being carried out fluidly and on time.
