Metso Minerals has unveiled the Lokotrack LT106 as the successor to its LT105 mobile tracked jaw crusher. The primary crushing plant was launched to the global market at ConExpo in Las Vegas, US in March and is already commercially available.

The unit is built around the new Norberg C106 jaw crushing unit, which has an innovative cavity design, longer stroke and system to optimise the revolution speed. According to Metso, the new jaw unit adds 10% more crushing efficiency to the LT106 compared to the previous model.

The completely redesigned machine also features a new frame and pitman structure to minimise stress within the machine. The fly wheels used in the LT106 are also heavier and larger than those in the LT105, which Metso has said increases the performance of the crusher by delivering more energy to each cycle.

The 224kW Caterpillar C9 powered machine can be fitted with a 6 or 9m3 hopper, which can be fed by a conveyor, excavator or wheeled loader. The crusher itself has a feed opening of 1.06 by 0.7m with a maximum feed size of 600mm.

Weighing in at 45tonnes, the LT106 retains compact dimension for road transport with a width of 2.8m and height of 3.4m.

The unit is available with a number of optional extras, including a longer hydraulically adjustable discharge conveyor, radio remote controls, a magnetic separator and a high voltage generator.

Following the successful addition of screening units to other models in the Lokotrack range, Metso is also producing a combined crusher/screener version of the LT106, known as the LT106S. The S denoted addition of a single deck detachable screen with a surface area of 2.2m2 with mesh sizes of between 20mm and 80mm available.
