The managing director of UK haulier The Cullimore Group has issued a statement reassuring customers and staff that the business will continue operating during the second lockdown.

The Gloucestershire-based company supplies various construction sites around the country, and managing dirctor Moreton Cullimore stated that the three business operations in the group structure will all continue trading and operating during the November lockdown.

He added: “As well as supplying essential goods such as food and crops, we will maintain supply to our construction site customers as they continue operating, and our maintenance workshops will remain open to service the HGVs supplying our nation at this difficult time. We take lockdown incredibly seriously and have strict processes in place within our business to minimise the impact of Covid-19.”

His statement comes ahead of the Road Haulage Association (RHA)’s annual National Lorry Week campaign, running from 16 to 22 November. The campaign aims to champion the haulage industry, which is responsible for 89% of all goods transported by land in the UK, and encourage people to consider a career in haulage.

Moreton Cullimore has reiterated his support for a petition calling for improved HGV driver facilities at infrastructure projects. The Petitions Committee has requested a revised government response, as they believed the initial response at 10 000 signatures “did not directly address the request of petition.
