Cullimore MD celebrates drivers for their efforts during COVID-19

Gloucestershire, England-based haulage firm The Cullimore Group, has nominated two of its drivers for the Road Haulage Association's (RHA) HGV Heroes campaign, running to 13 August 2020.

The campaign celebrates hauliers working across multiple disciplines for their efforts in keeping essential goods moving around the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cullimore Group’s nominees, Richard Livall and Patrick Gibbs have remained ever-present throughout the pandemic, ensuring the safe delivery of goods such as bread directly from the mill to local retailers.

The pair have also operated other vehicles within the Cullimore fleet of 60 vehicles when required.

Cullimore Group managing director Moreton Cullimore said: “No hour, day or work has been too much to ask for Rich and Pat, and I am immensely grateful for their tireless efforts over the past three months. From early morning starts and days away from their families to working flat out, they are the epitome of knights on the road.

“It has been a hugely difficult time for the haulage sector as a whole, with large obstacles to overcome. This is why it is so important that we as an industry pay tribute to those like Rich and Pat who have literally gone that extra mile to keep our economy moving forward throughout this pandemic.”

As part of its HGV Heroes campaign, the RHA is actively seeking nominations, like Cullimore’s, so anyone involved in the haulage industry can pay tribute to staff working throughout the pandemic.

The invitation extends to non-RHA members and is also open to office-based teams, as well as drivers like Richard and Patrick.

As an RHA board member and chair of its Bristol and Gloucestershire sub-region, Cullimore added: “Haulage is more than just trucks and quarries – it is about the people behind them. I am fully behind the RHA’s HGV Heroes campaign and believe it is essential for getting our industry into the spotlight, and remind people just how much of an integral role it plays in our day-to-day lives.”
