Dangote Cement is reportedly set to open its new Cameroon plant in August 2014. It was initially expected to enter service in January 2014, and then July 2014, but Baba Abdullahi, managing director of Dangote Cement Cameroun (DCC), told StarAfrica that delays have been linked to problems in making the access route to the plant viable and in securing the electricity supply. From 2016 onwards, Dangote Cement is looking to produce 1.5 million tonnes of cement in Cameroon. The new plant, which required an investment of €76.22 million, will initially produce 1 million tonnes/year.
