FLSmidth Krebs’ new Gravelmax slurry pump aims to boost dredging operations, offering high performance and low maintenance.

The completely new system is designed to stop suction side circulation and allows the pumps to offer dredging rates 50% higher than other similarly-sized units on the market. “The lower recirculation helps to reduce the power consumption of the unit, making it more cost-effective to operate,” said FLSmidth Krebs regional sales manager Brad Feathers.

The Gravelmax series is available in a range of sizes from 75mm intake/50mm outlet up to 711mm intake/660mm outlet, with the largest size capable of passing solids up to 254mm across.

“We are currently developing larger pumps in the Gravelmax range and we can also custom-design the pumps to suit a specific application,” said Feathers.

On the maintenance side, the design has been improved with the ability to adjust the impeller while the pump is running. Impeller life has also been designed to match the service life of the casing.

“Other improvements include the bearing design which can’t be over-greased,” said Feathers. “The system purges automatically, which helps remove any excess and pushes out any foreign material.”
