As the demand for housing and new development projects continues to rise across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, precast concrete is said to be increasingly becoming the preferred method for industrial building as contractors are driven to find faster and more efficient ways to construct projects under time constraints.

They say that not only is it versatile, but it is easily integrated with technical equipment, meaning it can be pre-planned from the process of architecture, all the way through to build.

The GCC is an alliance of six Middle Eastern countries, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman, which was established in 1981.

According to Dr Ulrich Lotz, managing director of FBF Betondienst, precast concrete will be the future of industrial building, and he notes that there will be a rapid development and deployment of the technology across the international market.

Dr Lotz will chair day one at The Big 5 Innovation in Precast Summit, taking place on the 26-27 November alongside The Big 5 Dubai at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Organisers say the summit will provide an opportunity to meet industry leaders and gain insight into the latest techniques and technology in the precast market in the Middle East.

Dr Lotz has been working in the precast concrete industry for nearly 20 years, and is currently the CEO of the biggest European Precast Concrete Congress, known as Betontage.

His main focus is strategic orientation and future development of the precast concrete industry and works in commissions with the international precast concrete association BIBM.
