Duo Group has executed a formal agreement with Tungsten West for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works package for the new build crushing, screening and ore sorter facility at the Hemerdon tungsten and tin mine in Devon.

The appointment forms part of Tungsten West’s wider restart programme and covers the majority of the planned full rebuild of the front end of the Hemerdon processing facility.

The revised configuration will replace legacy hybrid roll crushers with standard jaw and cone crushers, delivering enhanced operational reliability, improved size control and stronger environmental alignment. The project also incorporates advanced ore sorting and downstream processing improvements to significantly reduce volumes while improving head grade efficiency.

Metso will supply the crushing and screening equipment for the project, placing its proven jaw and cone technology at the centre of the new facility.

Stephen Armour, turnkey division director at Duo Group, commented: “Securing this prestigious contract at Hemerdon mine Plymouth marks an important milestone for the Duo Group Turnkey Division and reflects the trust Tungsten West places in our Turnkey capability and the professionalism of our team. We look forward to supporting the restart of this world class Tungsten mine.”

Jeff Court, chief executive officer at Tungsten West, said: “This marks another important milestone in restarting Hemerdon and we are pleased to have Duo as a partner for the Project. These works packages are major components of the re-start programme.

Renaud Lapointe, president, market area Europe and central Asia at Metso, added: “We are delighted to support Duo Group and Tungsten West on this important redevelopment project. Metso’s crushing technology is built for performance, reliability and sustainability, and we are proud to play a central role in the new Hemerdon processing facility.”

Works on site will commence immediately.
