The Egyptian Company for Solid Waste Recycling (ECARU) has signed a five-year contract to collect, transport and process local biomass for fuel to be used by Messebo Cement in Ethiopia, and supply the needed technology. The solid biofuel will replace coal used at Messebo's plant in Mekelle. The contract can be renewed for another five years. ECARU is a subsidiary of Tawazon, a Qalaa Holdings subsidiary in the solid waste management.
