Ecocem has unveiled a new research and innovation centre, which will be a major part of its product development plans.

The new facility, located in Chilly-Mazarin, France, will support Ecocem in developing its low-carbon cement technologies, including the use of alternative supplementary cementitious materials to reduce reliance on clinker materials.
“With ACT, our scalable low-carbon cement technology close to commercial availability, the new centre will allow us to go further and faster,” Ecocem founder and global managing director Donal O’Riain said.
“What is needed now is widespread adoption of available low-carbon cement technologies by the cement industry, which will allow it to become the first industrial sector to achieve a 1.5 °C decarbonisation trajectory.”
Roberta Alfani will lead Ecocem’s in-house team of 30 highly qualified engineers and technicians. The new centre was opened by the Ambassador of Ireland to France and Monaco Niall Burgess.
